Telecoms and mobile messaging provider, aql.com, has converged its offerings by sms-enabling over 20 million UK geographic numbers. This new functionality means that aql can now provide inbound and outbound voice, sms and fax on the same numbers, providing a converged wholesale offering into its channel partners and resellers.
Dr Adam Beaumont, Managing Director of aql.com said: "Being able to receive SMS on a conventional geographic number will allow the launch of local-text services and make low cost interactive SMS messaging accessible. Imagine if you could advertise one number for phone/fax and text - the marketing simplicity and accessibility benefits are substantial."
aql can also provide the service for existing telecoms providers, adding the inbound sms functionality as a value-added bolt-on, without any interruption to existing subscribers' voice services. Accepting both inbound SMS and voice also adds a layer of functionality to aql's VoIP services - Inbound SMS can now be handled by aql and sent to the end device over IP, said the company.
